1929 Vintage Salt Lake to Arrowhead Trail US Route 66 Trip Tic Map. Cards Condition is "Used". Shipped with USPS First Class.
For sale is a set of trip tickets used from Salt Lake City Utah to Los Angeles, California via Arrowhead Trail going along US Route 66 and US Route 91. This is a total of 755 miles. This was issued by the Touring Bureau of the Automobile Club of Southern California, 2602 South Figueroa Street, Los Angeles, Calif.
This is part of an ephemera grouping from a couple who left Marietta, Ohio, in 1929, and explored the great Southwest and headed to California. It measures 11 inches tall by 4 3/4 wide and it is in a paper envelope containing 18 map cards, some of which feature their own writing. Most of the cards are in what I would consider to be really nice condition. However, the envelope does show staining and wear. The edges and some spots on the cards have darkened a bit due to age. I have included all of the cards, so please review and enlarge all photos carefully as they are considered an integral part of the description. I had this listed earlier and realized I was just way too vague with the photos and descriptions. I was getting so many questions from people to see various cards that I just have tried to include them in some form. Unfortunately, I have no way of knowing if this is a complete set or not. Basically, what you see is what you get. I am not really familiar with that part of the country or the terrain, so I do not know if any is missing. The numbers do not seem to go in a numeric order. I just find it incredible that this adventurous couple left Marietta , Ohio, and headed out west in the early days of cross-country road trips!!! What a trip that must’ve been. I will be listing more of the ephemera including maps to the state parks, etc. They saved so many pieces of literature pertaining to this trip.
