These maps are being sold from a collection in the Mid-Atlantic, US area that is downsizing.  This provides a unique, wonderful opportunity to acquire a set of maps purchased by a lifelong collector.  A collector sees many maps and waits to purchase the right ones.  Unlike a dealer that circulates multiple maps, year after year - most collectors only have 1 (possibly 2) of each map in their collection.

Double page copper engraved maps with absolutely beautiful, deep, original hand color. The paper is a nice, warm even tone.
Created during the height of the Dutch Golden Age of mapmaking, Circa 1635-1640.
Blaeu’s maps are some of the most desirable maps of the 17th century.

Cartes a Figures
- beautifully decorated border panels showing the people of the land.  The costumes and accessories are truly a time of the past, but as it was of the day.  The top panel shows the prominent towns, cities and harbors that fueled the economy in industry, trade and influence.  These are some of the only maps to have this much decoration, intrigue and beauty.  The oceans are filled with sea monsters, sailing ships and greek gods.  Exotic animals are found throughout the continents. Essential maps for any collector and some of the most decorative maps available during the 17th century.
Condition of the maps is very good and the color is bright and deep.  The paper is a very desirable warm, cream tone.  America Nova Tabula has reinforcement on the rear centerfold top and bottom.  Some minor paper separation that has been repaired on the bottoms of Europa and Asia.  A few areas along the top centerfolds have been repaired and reinforced.  Overall, these maps present beautifully and show very well.  Please see the pictures.
