    Description

Up for sale, an antique violin that appears to be labeled Leopold Widhalm 1802.  Even with strong lighting I can't make out the label particularly well.  A google search shows this to be a well regarded maker from the late 1700's but I cannot guarantee that is who constructed the violin.  It will take an expert eye to make any good judgments here.  (sorry, that's not me, not my area of expertise)  The instrument is in fair condition showing some normal wear and also some repaired damage on the back.  Overall construction quality looks rather good.  The violin measures 13 7/8" x 8 1/2" width.
Any helpful information appreciated.  Priced rather conservatively if it is actually this maker (I'm seeing shops with 20k and higher price tags).  That said, this may end up being attributed to somebody else.  Could have even been repaired in 1802 by their shop.  I simply have no clue.  Includes generic case and unmarked antique bow.
