About This Listing
This Fine Rare 18th Century Viola made by the Mittenwald family of Kloz..(Klotz)
Dates between 1770 & 1780 and is in an exceptional state of preservation.
THE BACK - is made of two pieces of quarter cut maple, with faint horizontal flames in the lower portion.
THE TOP - is cut from two pieces of spruce with narrow-width grain
THE SIDES - are of maple similar to that of the back
THE SCROLL - is original and cut from similar maple of the back
THE VARNISH - is dark golden-brown on a golden ground
Measurments:
Length: 15-3/8"
Upper Bout: 7-1/16"
Middle Bout: 5"
Lower Bout: 8-31/32"
This Viola has no cracks or repairs & is a 100% original
comes in a protective case that is not original to the Viola
