    Description

This is an antique hand carved wooden fox head mounted on a wooden plaque surrounded by a brass horseshoe and brass corners. It is intended to be used as a whip rack or holder. It has incredible piercing eyes just like a real fox! It has a great old patina and signs of gentle wear as one would expect with an item that was used to hang one's whip after a day's hunt. It measures 5 1/2" h x 10 3/4" w and is around 3 3/4" deep from the tip of the fox's nose to the wall. The plaque itself is 1/2" thick. There is a metal loop on the back so you can hang it from a nail.
This item is quite rare and I could not find another one anywhere on the internet. I'm not sure how old it is but it dates to at least the early 20th century and probably dates back to the 19th century. People aren't hand carving things like this anymore. I have shown it with my whip hanging from it which is not included. Please look at all of the photos as these serve as part of the description. I want you to be satisfied with the condition before bidding. Add this to your collection of vintage and antique fox hunting items. It will be a great conversation piece in your tack room or den!
