JACOBUS STAINER ANTIQUE VIOLIN FULL SIZE - label inside 1683

Description

Antique Jacobus Stainer violin with red felt-lined case -  inside and exterior of coffin are in very good condition for age.  The printed paper label inside violin (see 3rd photo) says:  "Jacobus Stainer in Abfam propeOenipontum 1683" with the "83" handwritten.  Violin measures approximately 23 3/4 inches long and is decorated with a cloissone´-like flower.  This is a violin that has been in my family since the early 1900s.   I am not an expert on stringed instruments but did have a local violin restorer look at it and he indicated that it was likely from the Bavarian area of Germany and was NOT a cheap student copy.
