    Description

    Violin with original slips and letters signed by Joseph Puskas himself.
    This is to certify that the violin in the possession of Edmund Kozin, 717 S. Bristol Avenue, Loa Angeles, Calif.
    As indicated by the label which it bears. The back is of two pieces of well flamed maple. The top is of two pieces of spruce.
    The color of the oil varnish is transparent light golden-amber. the length of the instrument is 13 1/2 inches.
    Edmund Kozin is now 98 years old.
    I will have better photos and more information shortly. For now this is what I have obtained.
    Joseph Puskas was born in Hungary in 1913. He began studying violin making in 1938 under Paulus Pilate.
    After completing his studies in 1941, he established himself in New York, but later moved to Los Angeles in 1947.
    Puskas crafted over 150 instruments throughout his lifetime, most of them based on the models of Stradivarius and Guarneri.
    As you can see in the photograph the violin
    needs to be restrung.
