Here is a great vintage student violin for your buying consideration.
Would make a great gift for a special occasion, or keep for yourself!
We recently picked up a number of quality musical instruments from an auction of a party's life long collection.  This violin has a Lewis & Son of Chicago, IL label in it whom was the dealer/distributor in America.  The violin appears to be German made probably in the 1960s.

Very nice looking violin.  The violin has a two piece soundboard and two piece back.  Nice reddish brown stain on the of the entire violin.   Some minor finish loss and minor nicks over the years to the body of the violin.  Look at the pictures of the soundboard/belly very closely in zoom mode to see what we are describing. I see no hairline cracks or repairs to the soundboard or back to report to you.
The ebony tuning pegs are there and match.  The nut, saddle, end peg, and tailpiece are all there and in place.  The chin rest installed on the violin also comes with it.
The back of the violin is quite intact and just beautiful.  Nice graining going on with the back.  Some finish loss along the edges and on the back.  Nice purfling, f hole, and scroll work.  The corner blocks are in place.  The beaks look good.  The soundboard and back are tightly glued to the sides, no separations to report.   The fingerboard shows no wear or ridging that would impede string play.
The sound post is in place. The purfling appears to all be in place.  The neck is securely attached to the body of the violin.  No repairs to the neck, tuner box or tuner peg holes.  No cracks or splits there.  The scroll on the end of the neck is very well done.  There are strings on the violin, but who knows how long they have been there, so expect to have to replace them.
The label on the violin says, "Ton-Klar the Dancla, made in Germany expressly for, William Lewis & Son, Chicago. Ill.  The label also notes this is a No. 126 and 3/4 size violin.  The violin is 22-5/16" long (558.8mm), by 7.5" (190,5mm) across at the lower bout and 6-1/8" (152.4mm) across at the upper bout.  The violin body is 13.25" (336.5mm) long.
The violin will come in a hard violin case that was made by Roth.  The violin will be securely wrapped in the case as well as on the outside in a another box to make sure it gets thru safely to you.
This musical instrument is not represented to be in playing condition.  There will need to be refurbishing done to make this instrument playable again.
The string and bridge will be removed to more safely ship the violin to you.  So expect to have to do some re-assembly.  Let us know if you have any questions or need additional pictures.
